Mercedes-Benz has released a video showing the SLR Stirling Moss ahead of its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The video clearly shows how past and present come together in this car. The car is named after the legendary British racing driver Sir Stirling Moss, and the new SLR shows a remarkable resemblance to the classic racer.
Power comes from the same supercharged V8 engine as the standard SLR with an output of 650 bhp. Accelerating from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3.5 seconds and with a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), the SLR Stirling Moss is the fastest series-production car drop-top in the world.
The production of the exclusive SLR Stirling Moss will start in June 2009, and will be limited to 75 units. Pricing is set at €750,000 - around $1,070,000, but only customers who have previously bought an SLR will be able to order the Stirling Moss.
