Vauxhall Astra and Corsa VXRs by Thorney Motorsports

UK tuner Thorney Motorsport has decided to tune both the Vauxhall Astra and Corsa VXR versions, known in the rest of Europe as the Opel Astra or Corsa OPC, into two magnificent power machines.

In the picture above you see the racing version Astra VXR-R (as opposed to the VXR-S model), which has been tuned to generate 300 bhp from its 2.0 turbocharged engine. In addition, the hatchback comes with racing suspension, lowering the car with 40 mm, and a limited slip differential, and large disc racing brakes with four piston callipers complete the package. As a result, you get 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds (96 km/h) and a top speed of 170 mph (273 km/h).

The tuned Corsa VXR-R gets the same suspension and brake treatment as the Astra and her little 1.6 turbo is pumped up to an impressive 230 bhp.  This allows for a 0-60 mph sprint in 5.4 seconds and is out of breath at 160 mph (257 km/h).

For the VXR-S models the power is a little less, but that’d be hard to notice when behind the wheel. Considering the Astra only loses 20 bhp compared to the VXR-R, and the Corsa has to do with 10 bhp less. In addition, both get upgraded brake pads, bigger alloy wheels and a new sport exhaust.

In case these tuned VXRs appeal to you, you’d better be quick with getting your order in. Thorney Motorsport will only be producing 25 models of each version available.
