Bentley has released a new video featuring the production process of the Bentley Mulsanne.
New customers will be able to choose from at least 115 different colors for their luxury car, though more are possible with the company’s “unlimited palette.” 28 of these were created exclusively for the Mulsanne. The car gets six different layers of paint, including three for the top coat, and two coats of lacquer. Satin finishes, and two-tone versions will be possible.
Naturally this is not the most exiting video, but we’re sure Bentley fans will enjoy it!
“GeigerCars has given a significant power increase to the Mustang Shelby GT500. The car’s output was pumped up from 540 PS (397 kW / 533 bhp) to an impressive 810 PS (596 kW / 799 bhp).
Top speed on the car is now 354 km/h (220 mph). Sprint times were not revealed in the press release.
Torque on the 5.4-liter V8 engine was increased up to 945 Nm (697 lb-ft). The power improvements are in part due to a 3.3-liter compressor which puts out 1.6 bar pressure. Other performance enhancers include better air flow, new cylinder heads, more coolers, bigger throttle valves, and upgraded fuel injection.
The car’s transmission was modified to be able to take the extra power, and a three-disc carbon clutch was also used. Large 380 mm drilled brake discs were added, along with six-piston calipers.
Other changes made to the car included a new racing chassis. OZ alloys were added, measuring 8.5×20″ at the front and 10×20″ in back. Wheels are wrapped in high performance Michelin tires.
Pricing on the GeigerCars version of the Shelby GT500 Mustang has not been disclosed.”
BMW has released the first official details about the facelifted 2011 X5.
Set to debut at the New York Auto Show, the X5 features new bumpers, additional body-color accents, revised wheels, new headlights, relocated fog lights, and redesigned taillights.
Inside, the only change appears to be the addition of a new iDrive system with a 6.5-inch display (an 8.8-inch display will be optional). Despite the lack of updates, BMW added some new optional equipment. Goodies include active-ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panorama glass roof, four-zone automatic climate, and a DVD entertainment system. On the tech side, the X5 can be outfitted with a head-up display, adaptive cornering headlights, high-beam assistant, park distance control, a reversing camera, active cruise control (with a stop & go), a lane departure warning system, and a speed limit information display.
The X5 xDrive50i boasts a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 powerhouse (instead of a naturally-aspirated 4.8-liter V8), which churns out 300 kW (408 PS / 402 hp) and 400 Nm of torque. Thanks to this powerful engine, the X5 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). It consumes an average of 12.5 liters/100 kilometers (19 mpg US) and emits a fairly large 292 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
The 2011 X5 will go on sale in the US shortly after it is unveiled in April, while UK and German sales are scheduled to begin June 5th (they will be priced from £43,980 and €54,200, respectively).
Porsche will be upping the ante on its 911 series when it introduces the 911 Turbo S at the Geneva Auto Show next month!
The 911 Turbo S features a boost of 30 bhp over the standard 911 Turbo, dialing horsepower up to 530 bhp (390 kW / 523 hp), while torque stays put at 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) including the overboost, 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) without. Top speed is up just slightly (by 3 km/h) at 315 km/h or 195 mph. Fuel consumption also remains the same as the standard Turbo at 11.4 liters/100 km (24.8 mpg UK).
Additional goodies to entice buyers to this range-topping 911 include providing the 911 Turbo S with all the options available on the 911 Turbo as standard. The 911 Turbo S will come with Porsche’s 7-speed PDK (double-clutch) transmission, Porsche traction management (PTM) for the all-wheel drive system, as well as Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) which includes a differential lock for the rear axle. Also part of the standard package is the Launch Control and Sport Chrono Package that help accelerate this 911 Turbo S from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, shaving up to a tenth of a second from the “regular” 911 Turbo’s time with PDK.
Other standard features include 19-inch central locking wheels in an RS Spyder design and a two-tone leather finish in either Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S will come as both a cabriolet and coupe model. It will be available in dealerships starting in May (2010). Prices in Germany, including VAT, are €173,241 for the Turbo S Coupe, and €184,546 for the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.
The 5.0-liter V8-powered 2011 Ford Mustang GT was unveiled at the NAIAS yesterday. The beefy engine produces 412-horsepower and up to 390 ft-lb of torque to power the car to 60mph in under 4.7 seconds.
Ford’s upgrade of the engine from a 4.6-liter V8 accounts for a 97-horsepower and 65 ft-lb increase. Even with the bigger, more robust engine efficiency is increased slightly. Using the six-speed automatic generates a 17/25mpg rating. A six-speed manual will also be available, though no improvement in the 16/24mpg rating is expected.
With more power, you would expect the Brembo brakes to be standard, but they are being sold separately, as are the new 19-inch alloys. Standard equipment will include a new suspension, electronic power-assisted steering, and a more aerodynamic rear decklid.
Pricing on the 2011 Ford Mustang GT has not yet been revealed.
Whether it was intentional or not, Daimler has just released this video of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Convertible ahead of any other official announcements.
The E-Class Convertible exterior design is not much of a surprise as spy photos have practically shown the vehicle in its entirety. Despite the anticlimactic debut, these official videos still manage to give us a good look at the final E-Class range model.
The first video gives a general overview with some driving scenes. Close observation reveals the hidden rollover protection behind the headrests. Via cute dog with flappy ears, the second video demonstrates the convertible’s new AirCap system. Innovated by Daimler, the system consists of a windshield mounted spoiler that ariculates to control the air flow through the cabin when the top is down. When the AirCap is deployed it gives the E-Class Convertible draught-free open top convertible experience for all four seats.
The E-Class Convertible arrives in showrooms in spring 2010. Seven diesel and gasoline engines ranging from 125kW (170hp) to 285kW (387hp) will be available at launch.
Bugatti chose the Dubai Motor Show to conclude its Centenary celebrations by unveiling three special editions of the Veyron hypercar. The “Sang d’Argent” and the Grand Sport “Soleil de Nuit” are one-off models while the “Nocturne” will be limited to five cars only, all of them available exclusively to Middle East customers. Prices range from €1.45 million for the Sang d’Argent, €1.55 million for the Soleil de Nuit, and €1.65 million for the Nocturne. First deliveries are said to take place in the first quarter of 2010.
The Nocturne features a polished aluminium bonnet, galvanised side windows, special polished custom rims and polished aluminium upper body parts at the rear. The interior is dominated by a black nano-coated magnesium dashboard while the centre console is finished in galvanised platinum.
The one buyer allocated to the unique Sang d’Argent will get subtle silver metallic paintwork, polished aluminium doors and front wings, Grand Sport wheels and silver air intakes on the roof. Its so-called Havanna interior features a quilting pattern on the seats and saddle, as well as personalised items make the Sang d’Argent exceptionally special.
Last on the list is the Soleil de Nuit or Sun of the Night, another one-off model that comes finished in a polished aluminium and Black Blue metallic surface. The blue colour is also evident in the upper body parts and in the inner side of the rims (the outer side has a diamond cut). Occupants will be greeted by a bold burnt orange interior.
A new film showing the life and crimes of Serbian Vlada Vasiljevic premiered earlier this week in Amsterdam. Titled The Belgrade Phantom, for Vasiljevic’s nickname, the story follows the man after he stole a white Porsche 911, and used it to torment the police over a ten day period during Serbia’s communist era.
First-time feature director Jovan Todorovic used a combination of archive footage, radio interviews, and original dramatized material to create the story. Several car chases were shot throughout the Serbian capital of Belgrade to recreate the Phantom using his stolen 1979 Porsche 911 Targa to easily outrun the 60hp Zastava police cars.
The Belgrade Phantom is currently being shown at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.
Tuner HEICO SPORTIV has created a new tuning package for the facelift Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe. The tuner claims a strong base is already in place from the stock car which has eco-friendly technologies like stop/start with a brake-energy recovery system and a fuel consumption of only 3.9 litres per 100km.
“This is our basic starting point for proving that ecologically friendly action and the pleasure of driving don’t need to be mutually exclusive,” said general manager Holger Hedtke. He continued, “In doing so, aerodynamically optimised components such as the radiator grille or under-floor intentionally remain untouched.”
Power and torque increase from 109 bhp and 240Nm to 125 bhp and 280Nm respectively. The 0 - 100km/h sprint time is set at 9.2 seconds. HEICO SPORTIV claims theirs is 2.1 seconds quicker than the factory car. It also has a 200km/h top speed.
The car features some additions by the tuner on both interior and exterior. On the inside of the car these include aluminium or leather-covered handbrake, door pin set and gear lever grip.
The car’s exterior features a HEICO SPORTIV front spoiler, sport rims in 18 and 19-inch size in three colours, and a stainless steel double and quad pipe exhaust system. Performance enhancers include a differential lock and a sports suspension lowered by 30mm.
