2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Porsche will be upping the ante on its 911 series when it introduces the 911 Turbo S at the Geneva Auto Show next month!

The 911 Turbo S features a boost of 30 bhp over the standard 911 Turbo, dialing horsepower up to 530 bhp (390 kW / 523 hp), while torque stays put at 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) including the overboost, 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) without. Top speed is up just slightly (by 3 km/h) at 315 km/h or 195 mph. Fuel consumption also remains the same as the standard Turbo at 11.4 liters/100 km (24.8 mpg UK).

Additional goodies to entice buyers to this range-topping 911 include providing the 911 Turbo S with all the options available on the 911 Turbo as standard. The 911 Turbo S will come with Porsche’s 7-speed PDK (double-clutch) transmission, Porsche traction management (PTM) for the all-wheel drive system, as well as Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) which includes a differential lock for the rear axle. Also part of the standard package is the Launch Control and Sport Chrono Package that help accelerate this 911 Turbo S from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, shaving up to a tenth of a second from the “regular” 911 Turbo’s time with PDK.

Other standard features include 19-inch central locking wheels in an RS Spyder design and a two-tone leather finish in either Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S will come as both a cabriolet and coupe model. It will be available in dealerships starting in May (2010). Prices in Germany, including VAT, are €173,241 for the Turbo S Coupe, and €184,546 for the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.

First picture: Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire at Geneva

Here’s the first picture of the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire, Bugatti’s anniversary model, unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

Called the Bleu Centenaire, this latest in a long line of special edition Veyrons commemorates the brand’s 100th anniversary. As such, it’s wearing a special shade of blue that you might remember seeing on the late, great EB 110, but is also the main color of Bugatti’s historical racing livery. Note, however, that the Bleu Cenenaire features both matte and glossy applications of the color on its body panels, which looks strange yet inexplicably cool to us.

Aston Martin One-77 limited edition supercar uncovered in Geneva

no comment Posted by onlydreamcars

Aston Martin is showing the all-new Aston Martin One-77 in Geneva. The first in a 77-unit limited edition will be on display during the entire auto show there.

Aston CEO Dr. Ulrch Bez explained: “It had to combine high-technology with hand-built craftsmanship, and demonstrate the unique capabilities and passion of our designers, engineers and technical partners. Quite simply it had to be the ultimate expression of Aston Martin. As you can now see, we have achieved that goal in magnificent style.”

The Press Release, reads that the One-77 has a carbon fiber monocoque, based on ideas seen in the racecars on the DTM race circuit. The cars use a Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve damping, which the company claims is a first for a street car. The dampers are fully adjustable, even while they’re still on the car.

A street car needs serious power to even require such a suspension system. Aston certainly did not short the One-77 in that department. It comes with a 7.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces over 700 bhp. Unfortunately, final power, torque, acceleration, and speed ratings are not yet available.

Final testing still needs to be conducted on the vehicle. Once completed, Aston believes they will announce a top speed of over 200mph, a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds.

New Volvo V70, S80, XC60 and XC70 DRIVe models to be revealed at Geneva Motor Show

Volvo XC60 DRIVe

Volvo XC60 DRIVe

Volvo will introduce four new DRIVe models at the Geneva Motor Show in one week. The company began production of the fuel efficient, low emissions vehicles late last year following a successful introduction at the 2008 Paris Auto Show.

The DRIVe tag will now also be seen on the Volvo V70, S80, XC60, and XC70. It already appears on the C30, S40, and V50 models. The C30 DRIVe even managed to slip into the European Union’s cleanest band of vehicles by producing less than 105g CO2 per km.

Perhaps most impressive is Volvo’s ability to get the XC60 and XC70 crossover SUVs below 160g CO2/km. The DRIVe models use a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 175 hp and a spectacular 420Nm of torque. Gear ratios are tuned for fuel economy, but the torque increase helps keep a somewhat sporty feel, according to the company. Combined fuel economy is rated at 6.0 l/100 km for each vehicle, which corresponds to about 39 mpg (US). If that seems a little less impressive, then consider this: the current Volvo XC70 would get 6.2 l/100 (38 mpg US) if you only drove it on the highway.

Expect Volvo to reveal their fuel economy advances at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. All seven vehicles, including the new Volvo V70 DRIVe, S80 DRIVe, XC60 DRIVe, and XC70 DRIVe will be shown off on 3 March 2009.

Ferrari 599 HGTE to be revealed in Geneva

no comment Posted by onlydreamcars

Ferrari has decided to introduce the HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo) package for the 599 GTB at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. In past this was reserved for the latter stages of a model’s life cycle, as seen on the Ferrari 575M and 612 Scaglietti, the HGTE package is seen as a sales incentive for the 599, especially with Ferrari sales dropping very quickly.

Little is known about the special edition but considering that the E in HGTE stands for Evoluzione, one could expect plenty of high-performance accessories. The 599 HGTE will feature a new front grille which will bear a resemblance to the one used on the F430 Scuderia, 20-inch three piece wheels outfitted with high-performance tires, and a new rear exhaust. Inside the changes are expected to be limited to the addition of more carbon fiber trim and new sports seats.

Aston Martin’s fastest Vantage ever

no comment Posted by onlydreamcars

Meet the fastest, most powerful Vantage ever! This is Aston Martin’s new V12-engined supercar – a striking machine which packs race-derived technology into a stunning body. And Auto Express has been given access ahead of its world debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

The V12 Vantage was first seen as the RS concept in 2007, and the production version has lost little in its translation from dream to reality. Under the many bonnet louvres lies a mighty 6.0-litre V12 producing 510bhp and 570Nm of torque. That’s 90bhp and 100Nm more than the regular 4.8-litre V8 Vantage. The powerplant is hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. This means the new model does 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and accelerates on to a top speed of 190mph.

There will be nine examples of the Bentley Zagato GTZ manufactured exclusively for collectors. As of now, one of them is ready for an owner, and it is for sale on JamesList.com from a broker in Villorba, Italy for €1.3 million, or about $1.7 million USD. Purportedly the only one ready for delivery, this particular GTZ has just 10k (6.1 miles) on its odometer.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last March, the GTZ leaves the engineered perfection of the Bentley Continental GT as is, merely clothing it in a Zagato treatment consisting of two-tone coachwork, a twin-bubble roof that glides into a sculpted rear window, and more added creases you could shake a Picasso at.
