2010 Mustang Unleashed video diary: Father and Son take Ultimate Mustang Road Trip

no comment Posted by onlydreamcars

The dream of hitting the open road and taking that unexpected turn appeals to the
Mustang side in all of us. The Ford Mustang brings generations together unlike any
vehicle on the market and Ford was able to make the dream of Joseph Cram and his
father come true with the ultimate unexpected turn.

Joseph Cram, known as Hot Rod Joe, and his father Ralph Cram always dreamt of taking
a road trip together in a Ford Mustang. In fact, the Houston resident and his father
spent years rebuilding their very own 68 Mustang Coupe with the hopes to someday
drive the vehicle together across country, until they were forced to sell their
vehicle due to the tough economic times. 16 years later, the Crams dream of cruising
in a Mustang became a reality when they were given the opportunity to take a road
trip from Houston to Detroit and participate in the Woodward Dream Cruise - one of
the largest automotive gatherings in the world.

The Crams experience was made possible by participating in Ford Motor Companys “The
‘10 Unleashed” program, which encourages consumers to submit entries describing their
ultimate Mustang dream experience in 250 words or less. Videos chronicling the
father and son unleashing their Mustang sides are featured starting today at
www.the2010mustang.com.

Ford preparing to visit SEMA with Mustang & F150

2010 Ford Mustang Steeda Autosports

2010 Ford Mustang Steeda Autosports

Ford is planning to bring a large batch of vehicles to the SEMA Show, being held in Las Vegas next week.  Amongst the offerings will be eight different Ford Mustangs, each tuned by a different firm, and five variants of the Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

The American automaker is pushing the idea that the Mustang, now 45 years old, “is the most customized car in the $31.8 billion aftermarket industry.”  The eight Mustangs are meant to prove this point, with 3d Carbon’s version leading the way.  Using their Boy Racer design that was first seen in 2005, 3dCarbon’s custom aero kit will likely be a hit at the show.

Tuner Galpin Auto Sports will be showing off their version of the Ford Racing-tuned, supercharged, 550 hp wide-body Mustang convertible.  Nearby, Steeda Autosports will display the Steeda Q350, a “super responsive” version of the sports car meant for the track.  Other tuners participating include Ford Vehicle Personalization, H&R Special Springs, Paul’s High Performance, Street Scene Equipment, and Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Amongst the cars are the Ford F150 tune-jobs.  Ford claims that F150 models are “the most customized trucks in the $31.8 billion aftermarket industry.”  Ford Vehicle Personalization will bring out the F-150 Project FX2 Sport 6.2-liter with a dark grille, new front lighting, and a new set of wheels.  Painted in Red Candy with gold graphics, the car also comes with a dual-tip rear exhaust.  Also, K-Daddyz Kustomz will be in Vegas, with a truck showing off 24-inch wheels, and a “air bag suspension.”  It comes with a supercharged, 5.4-liter engine, and meant to offer “urban luxury.”

Other F-150 tuners include Malibu Customz, Superlift, and DeWalt, who will be showing off a 2011 Super Duty concept.

You can read about each model in the two included press releases below.  All vehicles will be on display from November 3 to 6 in Las Vegas.

Tuner Roush introduces two 540-horsepower Mustangs

2010 Roush Mustang Stage 3

Tuner Roush has introduced a new stallion lineup in the form of the Stage 3 and the 540RH Mustang. The 2010 Roush Mustang Stage 3 gets a 540-horsepower upgrade complete with a second-generation R2300 supercharger, high-flow fuel rails and injectors, upgraded fuel pump and a beefier clutch.
Interior enhancements include ROUSH® leather seats with an embroidered Jack Roush signature, four-piece performance pedals and ROUSH® illuminated sill plates.
For the suggested retail price of $59,945 you also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, 14-inch brakes, a Roush suspension system, various interior enhancements and a Roush body kit complete with a billet grille.

Then there is also the 540 RH Mustang, a car for those who are only interested in the performance of this tuner car. Roush explains:It will be purposely built with minimal content as it was designed for the buyer who wanted the ROUSH horsepower but with a blank canvas that can be customized into their own personal one-of-a-kind ride.” Along with the powerplant and suspension upgrades, this budget Roush only includes the rear spoiler, a short-throw shifter, and a subtle stripe package. Roush says they have already tested the car at the drag strip and came away with an 11.8-second elapsed time at 121 mph . At $46,145, the 540RH fits in nicely under the Shelby GT500’s retail price while offering similar performance.

2010 Ford Mustang Customizer provides nice tuning options

no comment Posted by onlydreamcars

Ford has unveiled a unique online customization website for the 2010 Mustang.

The site, http://www.fordvehicles.com/the2010mustang/?id=/customizer, allows you to create a personalized Mustang with a variety of Roush and Ford aftermarket products. You can choose from a variety of hoods, louvers, scoops, spoilers, grilles, wheels, stripes, and pretty much everything else you can put on the exterior of a Mustang.

When you’re finished creating your ultimate Mustang, you can download a vehicle summary which details the parts used and where to get them. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the ability to save your Mustang in the “Customizer Gallery”, where other users can see your car and rate it’s design.

Glass Roof Option for 2010 Ford Mustang

2010 Ford Mustang with glass roof

Ford has unveiled a new panoramic glass roof option for the recently redesigned 2010 Mustang.

Designed to offer a convertible-like driving experience, the Mustang’s glass roof has been specially engineered to filter out 90 percent of the sun’s heat-generating infrared (IR) rays and 96 percent of burn-causing ultraviolet (UV) rays. This effectively means the Glass Roof Mustang is the only coupe to be equipped with a sun protection factor (SPF) of approximately 50.

Ford also points out that “scientific studies show that increased exposure to sunshine or bright light is therapeutic because it regulates the body’s synthesis of melatonin, a mood-regulating hormone that modulates the circadian cycle of sleep and wakefulness.” So there you have it, this Mustang can make you feel better! - Yeah you got it, we’re not buying it either…

To get that warm and fuzzy feeling, head to your local Ford dealer and spend an extra $1,995.

Ford is going to unveil the most powerful Ford Mustang ever in Detroit, later this month. The 2010 Shelby GT500 has had its power tuned up to 540 bhp and some 510 foot-pounds of torque. The GT500’s performance comes from a 5.4-litre V8 engine with a supercharger. The power dome on the hood serves a real purpose by taking in cool air to keep the engine at its best peak performance level.

Carroll Shelby, founder of Shelby Automobiles, says: “We’re proud of the many enhancements that were developed jointly by the Ford and Shelby Automobiles team last year that we’ve now incorporated into the new 2010 Shelby GT500. Building on what we learned to create the Shelby GT500KR, this new car offers a great combination of power, handling and braking. It is truly a special car that is a great deal of fun to drive.”
